How Sex Keeps You Young

It’s nice that you can take a break from everything that is a chore in life, and actually be benefiting your body and health at the same time. Most people are aware that a healthy sex life is good for you and your overall energy and vigour. We’re going to go over some of the ways a healthy sex life keeps you young.

Having a fulfilling sex life will help you stay young, live longer and happier. This doesn’t mean you need to make a schedule or take anything away from your spontaneous sex-life. It’s just that when you are doing all the work, keeping a routine for skincare, hair-care, maintaining a healthy diet and so on, it’s nice to have a bonus and know you’re doing something right already! Again, a natural part of life is here to help you with your anti-aging needs.

The Facts

  • Just like exercise slows down the aging process, having sex releases the human growth hormone, which helps keep the skin elastic, and therefore does not wrinkle as quickly.
  • Remember when we talked about how endorphins, the body’s feel-good chemicals are released during exercise and physical activity? Well, same goes for sex. Our natural painkillers, which ease anxiety and help you sleep easier, are released during sexual activity.
  • Sex goes on to boost blood circulation, which is of course, good for your heart and also provided that natural glow!
  • Sex is heart-healthy! It helps to keep levels of hormones even; like estrogen and testosterone. Estrogen promotes younger-looking skin and healthier hair!
  • Sexual activity also burns fat and releases chemicals that strengthen the immune system! More sex means less grogginess and less likeliness of becoming ill.
  • Sex boosts blood flow to the vagina, and the elasticity of tissues. Some people may not know this, but having sex actually boosts your libido as well! Meaning if you’re not feeling it, actually doing it will make you want it more. Interesting.
  • Sex lowers blood pressure! People who report regular sexual intercourse also report lower systolic blood pressure.
  • You know how you fall asleep faster after sex? There is actually a reason: orgasm simulates the release of a hormone called prolactin, which is a natural sleep aid!
  • Researchers have also found that sex switches the brain into analytical mode, and boosts brain-power and performance overall!

Added Benefits!

  1. Research shows that sexual intercourse can increase longevity!
  2. It lowers the risk of preeclampsia in pregnant women! Preeclampsia can cause swollen legs and arms, headaches, seizures and nausea. The good news is that frequent intercourse can prevent this. There is a protein called HLG-A that is found in semen that can help regulate a woman’s immune systems and decrease the possibility of complications!
  3. A plus for men as well (finally, a win for you guys!) intercourse also decreases risk of cardiovascular disease, stroke and coronary heart disease.
  4. Past studies have shown an improvement in memory in individuals between the ages of 50 and 90. Studies completed in 2016 and 2017 showed that people who had sex more often also performed better at tasks which centered around the part of the brain which deals with emotions.

Have You Noticed the Difference?

Many researchers claim that you can look up to 10 years younger with a healthy sexual lifestyle and many psychologists and even scientists back it up with facts and stats. But we want you to look for yourself, and tell us.

We are talking about all of the drudgery of life that gets shelved when you’re having healthy, good sex; that is really what’s helping you stay young. Like a natural anti-depressant or stress-reliever, good sex kind of saves the day (and the rest of your days, for later). If you’re someone who has gone through the dry-spell and also have had times of your life when the sex is more invigourating than others, you will likely have noticed the difference in yourself, for yourself. You will probably have noted the difference in your own energy levels and how you feel: this is the differentiating factor that we are talking about when we say that sex keeps you young, that we can actually feel right away!

  1. Absolutely right, good sexual habits are akin to you keeping your regular routine at the gym. Your body gets used to it and looks forward to it just as you do.

A good sexual appetite helps your body relieve stress, blood circulation, cardio vascular health. The list goes on from there. Of course everyone has their own particular needs and some are more vigorous than others so the various health benefits vary as well.

    Great post!

Thanks for allowing me to share my thoughts.

  2. This is such an awesome article and I am bookmarking it!

I knew that sex has some health benefits but I never knew the details!

I actually just had a really amazing weekend with my boyfriend last weekend and I was wondering why I felt so energetic and healthy ( way moreso than usual!)  Your article made me smile because now I know why!  I never even considered that to be a factor!

I am so interested in anti-aging solutions and I cannot wait to read more of your articles!

  3. What a fantastic article.  Very interesting read.  Sex is certainly good for the health, and let’s face it, it is cheaper and so much for fun than going to the gym!

One thing I did not know is that having sex actually increases one’s libido.  I found that particularly helpful to know.  I sometimes get so caught up in the stresses and strains of everyday life, that my libido sinks and am seriously not in the mood – only due to exhaustion.  But your article has given me insight and given me a new perspective.

I will certainly be reading your site for more tips.

    Thanks again

  4. It is fascinating to see that sex has all these amazing benefits. It shows that sex is not only for enjoyment but serve as a treatment to our dear body and mind. This is unbelievable. No wonder, people at an old age are not as strong both body and mind compare to people that haven’t reached those age. Thanks for this enlightening review.

  5. You went to great detail in about all of the benefits that a healthy sex life can involve, great to know! Just like exercising regularly will improve your overall health, a healthy sex life is necessary for health as well! Who knew a good sex life could contribute to many great health benefits!

  6. This is a beautifully presented post on the benefits of maintaining a healthy and active sex life as we age. You have certainly listed some very convincing health benefits from engaging in sexual activity even when we may not feel like it.  I learned some things I did not know prior to reading this , that estrogen improves the elasticity of the skin and keeps it looking younger and also that burning fat through sexual activity also boosts the immune system. The other point I learned was that it increases analytical ability and brain power!

You have certainly presented a strong case for us to be more sexually active as we age. We are in our 70’s and still enjoy a healthy sex life but it has to be worked at a lot more now than when we were young. .

I really appreciate every aspect of this post, it is an easy yet informative read.

  7. I am an aging female and the information you give is informative and not personally intimidating.  I like that you explained every point so that we are educated and know what the positive’s and negatives are on the subject. As I was reading your chosen article I was drawn also to the makeup mistakes article and can’t wait to read that one now also.  Thank you for helping me understand where and what makes for a better me.  Will you be venturing in the menopausal area at all? Just curious.  I will be back to read many more from you I feel it.  Thank you for the read.

  8. Wow! I would never have thought that engaging in sex can provide all these benefits. Who needs any miracle anti aging drug when you can achieve the same ends with sex! The romantic countries like France, Spain and Italy knew this all along.

Maybe this should become a part of doctors training.

Thanks for bringing up this very enlightening topic!

  9. OK, I just have to start out by saying, “catchy title!”.

I’m going to have to keep this list handy for those nights when I might need to explain the benefits beyond enjoyment to get things going :).

In all seriousness, I totally see where the activity can be of great benefit to both people.

    Thank you for sharing this,

    Scott

  10. Sex is a beautiful union. Your post explains well about the benefits we can get from it. I especially got interested on the hormones it produces that gives you the feeling of happiness. Most people only find this activity as only something pleasurable without knowing that it’s actually a great source of health and wellness. I’m going to share this with my friends so they too can find more reasons to get better sex, a healthy glow, youthful skin and have an active mind and body. Thanks for sharing!

  11. You’re absolutely right!  Having a healthy sex life is really great not only for your health but for your mental health!  Even when we don’t really feel like it and have been telling our partner we are just not in the mood, it might be a good idea to try seeing if it helps the waning libido (as sugggested!).That’s not to say just to be pressured into pleasing our partner, not at all!  But the longer a dry spell lasts, the more it feels ‘comfortable’ not to engage in it and it truly does lift one’s spirits!  All those endorphins are the key!

  12. Not only has sex a lot of health benefits, it’s also a win-win workout with your spouse and it helps to boost the relationship. I love that it slows down the aging process and of course it’s definitely a natural sleep aid.
The good thing is, you can keep the passion at a high age too.

Thank you for sharing this informative post, it was a pleasure to read it!

  13. Bang on the money there Sonia. I find that sex is not just good for the physical well being but for mental health as well. You are always more alert and social when you have a good sex life. Thanks for reaffirming it is always good to know that what you feel in the back of your mind has some merit and it is not just the after sex “glow”.

  14. It’s surprising that sex has so many benefits than just been a pleasurable experience, The benefits of sex range from slashing stress levels to lowering your risk of cancer and heart attacks. I use to think that sex only facilitates bonding and feelings of intimacy with your partner, but this post has put “Wow” expression on my face while reading this. Thanks for sharing this knowledgeable post.

  15. This was an interesting article. I have heard a little before in the past that sex could improve your health but I hadn’t heard may details about it, only that it could. Your article did a really good job of explaining exactly what kind of benefits sex could bring to a person. Do you know if “self” love so to speak also brings about some of the same benefits? Or is this strictly with a partner?
