Tips on How to Have Healthy Hair

When we talk about aging and the problems that come with it, one of the things we may not mention as often (but certainly experience) is the thinning, or greying of hair. Hair can start to look dried out and tired on different people at different times in life; some people find their first grey hair even in their 20’s! We notice that a lot of problems, in regards to hair, are very similar to the reasons we see rapid aging signs in the rest of the body. Not to fear! There are multiple effective and easy ways to keep hair healthy and young!

1. Don’t Over-Brush Your Hair

When I was still in my twenties, a friend of mine suggested this idea she had heard about making sure your hair goes through a hundred brush strokes before bed. Turns out, this wasn’t the world’s greatest advice because over-brushing your hair actually just stresses it out further rather than the opposite. You can cause damage to the outer layers of your hair by brushing too often and eventually this will lead to split-ends. If you have treated hair, dyed or otherwise, you can actually cause even more damage.

Of course, brushing the hair regularly is still something that is necessary, experts recommend limiting the comb to twice daily! Brushing the scalp allows for blood to flow to hair follicles and lead to hair growth. A higher quality hair-brush also leads to a higher quality brush stroke!

2. Try Biotin Supplements, or Vitamin H

Biotin is an essential vitamin (also known as Vitamin H) that converts nutrients to energy. It works, specifically, towards the health and growth of nails, hair and skin. I have been having so much problems with my hair lately. First I had a drastic hair loss last year and now its all just not cool so I wear a cap most of the time now. Lol.   3. Having healthy hair is one of the things anyone would want to have to always look good, but sadly, some activities done to/with the hair would always affect the healthy nature of our hair. Adding some conditioners that have the presence of some chemicals that could make her hair lose color should be avoided, and washing should be encouraged.
    Now looking at the ways you have given to have healthy hair, I must confess I am really impressed and have learned some things from it. I have always doubted the usefulness of nuts to the hair but now those doubts are cleared. Thanks for sharing.

  7. I really like how simple tips can change the results you get and the combination of all the tips you gave will give awesome results. The first time I was able to keep a hair care routine for 2 months I saw a tremendous evolution. But I also saw a great amount of growth when I let it rest for a while.   8. Awesome post! I suffered thinning hair for so many years. I have used different stuffs ever, and the sad truth is nothing worked and I already accepted my fate. I began taking Biotin supplements about 6 months ago. For the first month, I felt my hair was thickening, but only slightly. I kept using it, and their has being a major improvement. Biotin supplement works well.

  9. I love your posts  my wife has had until now great hair. But as she has gotten older it seems her hair has gotten shorter and thinner. She is now thinking of getting extensions. But I think your suggestions will help her greatly.

  10. My hair’s all shabby and shaggy at the moment. I think I’d like to give the hair mask a go.  I’ve never applied one before so I’m really curious to see how it works.

    How long does it ship to Australia?

    I normally apply an Argan oil after showering but do you think I should NOT do this after applying the mask, just to see how it works out?  Or is it safe enough to continue as normal?

  11. I’ve read somewhere that if you over brush and then pull your hair into a very tight pony tail, it can actually make your hair fall out. 

    I’m already eating lots of avocado and nuts as well as spinach and eggs so I guess I’m sorted with the vitamins and biotin! I might just have to add some shrimp, which I don’t mind at all. 

    I’m always looking to try out different masks and oils, so I’ll try out the ones you suggested. 

    I’ve noticed that when I’m sick my hair doesn’t look as nice, which I’m guessing might have to do with not getting enough of something then. Thank you for this post.

    It is great to read that some of the things that I have found to work for my hair, puts me on the right track!

    I really like the Argan oil, because it definitely moisturizes the hair without making it greasy. I have very dry hair, so I only wash once a week, to give time for the natural oils to make it more manageable again!

    I have forgotten that brushing the scalp helps with blood circulation, I will try getting into the habit again 🙂
