How to Look Younger (When You’re Pressed For Time)

There are super effective tips which, if followed on a regular basis, can help you look younger than your age. Following a skincare routine is just one of the ways to really help your skin look its best in the long-term! Still, there are certain times that we don’t quite have the days or weeks we need to get into that routine, and we want to look younger, yesterday.

Here are some ways to make yourself look youthful and get rid of an aged look, as fast as possible.

Try a Sleep Mask (Both Kinds!)

The overnight-route to younger looking skin can be found in the new trend today, of facial sleep masks. Wake up to a more radiant complexion; after 8 hours you can see the brighter version of you behind the mask of age. Sleep masks are generally very concentrated, yet lighter than many facial creams. This is one kind of sleep mask that is effective in helping a girl look young!

This Water Sleeping Mask from Laneige restores skin’s optimal moisture levels overnight while its signature MoistureWrap™ contains hydro ion mineral water, hunza apricot and evening primrose root extracts that wrap skin in a breathable moisture layer!

The other kind is the more traditional version of a sleep mask. Safer than medication or any other sleep aid, is to ensure the darkness your body often needs to get proper sleep! It can also prevent wrinkles caused by your pillowcase as your eye area is safely enveloped in a comfy eye-covering. You want an eye mask that actually blocks light, which means it needs to properly fit your face.

Options that have the nose carved out may work best. You’ll also want to find a fabric that feels comforting to you! There are many options, including velvet, silk, fleece, and faux-fur! If you are like me you want a sleep mask that doesn’t make your face get warm, so instead of fleece I have a silk sleep mask.

Your sleep mask, in this case, is not only about ensuring the best rest, but also about making yourself look and feel your best! There are many different types of sleep masks that can cater to various beauty and sleep needs!

Hit Up a Humidifier

Using a humidifier can help dry skin look and become more supple. Adding moisture to the air of your home has a lot of often-overlooked positive effects on the skin! Humidifiers add moisture to the air to prevent dryness that causes irritation in many parts of the body, including, but not limited to the skin. They can also help ease some symptoms caused by having a cold or the flu.

Increasing the amount of moisture in the air can also reduce snoring. If the air is dry, a person’s airways are less likely to be sufficiently lubricated, which can make snoring worse as well. A good humidifier is a simple, low-maintenance way to create a healthy environment for you and your skin!

Skip the Salt

Sodium causes the body to retain fluid, and it’s easily noticeable because of the puffiness it causes in the face.
Because salt makes your body hold on to water, eating too much salt, causes your blood pressure to rise over time. Basically, the higher your sodium intake, the higher the blood pressure. Some people can be more sensitive to the effects of a high-sodium diet than other people, but its effects are similar for most people when it comes to the outer body. It can cause a person to look and feel more tired that they would regularly.

Processed foods tend to have more salt in them than anything you may cook at home, so it is not necessarily about using less salt in your meals, but sometimes it may be about eating out less; opt for whole foods. Having less processed foods in your diet and increasing your daily intake of magnesium and potassium may be helpful for reducing symptoms of salt sensitivity.

Exfoliate Your Lips

Your skin naturally sheds skin cells approximately once each month. Sometimes, it can be beneficial to speed up the process in order to minimize clogged pores and clear up dry patches of skin. Exfoliating the lips yourself can help to get rid of dead skin cells and help your lips look fresh and supple.

Depending on how much lipstick or other lip and around-the-lip products that you use regularly, the amount of times you need to exfoliate may vary. One to three times a week is best for most people. A lip mask is a great way to exfoliate and pamper your lips for a fresh and young look. Our top pick at Anti-Aging Solutions is Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask! With a 98.9% approval with consumers, Laneige’s Lip Mask does the most to dissolve dead skin cells while you sleep, making you look younger and your lips plumper overnight. Berry Mix Complex with Vitamin C and antioxidant-packed berry ingredients work together to make lips firmer, while hyaluronic acid helps in moisture absorption while you slumber.

Exfoliate Your Lips

Fake Fuller Lips

When you are pressed for time, it doesn’t hurt to use a few makeup tricks to look your best. Using a plumping lip cream or plumping lipstick can make actually you look younger! For a quick plump that costs next to nothing, try Revlon Kiss Plumping Lip Crème. Revlon’s smooth lip cream is revolutionized with Volulip technology, and promises to make your lips more soft, smooth and full. Available in a variety of light colours and nudes, it’s something that instantly makes you look and feel younger.

Using a lip-liner that matches your natural lip tone can help you to achieve a fuller pout even without plumping products. Line your lips and fill with a bright colour (rather than dark, as darker colours on the lips can age you) and you will look younger in seconds.

Keep Makeup Simple

It’s true that a little foundation can make your skin instantly brighter, and that oily lids could cause eye-shadow to run, but that doesn’t mean you should keep piling on products. Opt for low-maintenance eye-wear like light mascara. You can make your face pop with minimal makeup, if you are applying it correctly!

Nudestix Cream Lip And Cheek Pencil is a multitasking pencil and liner for cheeks and lips with ultra-creamy and soft color. This lip liner, lip balm and cheek color combo is super soft and delivers intense pigment payoff and smooth application for soft, natural lips! This lip and cheek pencil is an easy, low-maintenance way to ensure you are doing the most, without over-doing a thing! It’s infused with lip and skin moisturizing ingredients, including shea butter, vitamin E and peptides to add radiance and support a plumper, more youthful look overall!

  1. I’m very curious as to what it is in plumping lipstick that makes your lips more plump. It’s sounds a little scary to me! I love the idea of using lipliner to imitate plumpness. I actually do exfoliate my lips, so great to know I’m doing something right lol!

I may try the lipliner idea sometime!

  2. I’ve been looking for a new skin care routine and find your site fascinating! My previous skin care routine was non-existent. Besides an exfoliation treatment whenever I could find the time!

I never knew what sleep masks were for. I assumed they were simply to trick you into thinking it was dark, lol! Never knew it could help for wrinkles. I’d love to try the water sleeping mask!

We need a new mattress so badly! I totally relate to not feeling rested in the morning due to muscle aches and back pains. The only mattress I ever slept on that removed my back pains was a water mattress. But I hate the motion! Will have to test out a Puffy when we finally commit to buy!

Thank you so much for the recommendations!

  3. Recently turned 48 and not really worried to much about ageing until recently.  Maybe because I lost my hair early I never really thought about it.  These days a lot of men my age are losing hair so now I see a difference in how other people my age look compared to me.  Some people hold their age well where others look ancient that are a fair bit younger than me.  Thank you for some of your tips.  Being a male a few tips are just not for me, however you did bring up some good valid tips even males can use.

  4. Hello! Thank you for sharing this very informative article. I believe my wife should be interested in how to look younger. She always tries different ways to achieve that. I will share this post with her and my friends.

I like your post because you provide me many tips in details so I don’t need to spend more time to search it online one by one. It saves my time and her time. I always see my wife spend a lot of time to search for it and discuss with her friends every day. Moreover, you also suggest the product for each tip. It definitely helps me a lot.

I will bookmark your site and read it regularly. I hope you can keep sharing with us.

  5. Interesting article on how to look younger in a short span of time. I especially like the one about eating too much salt, which is a nice reminder on limiting the intake. I just hope it has the quick impact you are suggesting. Ensuring proper sleep is the one that I can really confirm as keeping younger. I need the right pillow and mattress, but no other extra’s. I make it a regular routine, always going in and out of bed at about the same time. When I can’t sleep I do not panic but just think about beautiful or funny things and wait until I get really sleepy again. We do not need a humidifier as we live in the tropics with a very high humidity all year around. I can imagine that this would be very helpful in a drier climate.

  6. Hi Sonia,

This is the first time I come across facial sleep mask and it sounds interesting. I am planning to go for a eye mask and this article is loaded with helpful insights.

I need to work on my sleeping hours. At the moment, I am sleeping for 6 hours and very recently we bought a good mattress. Information you shared on salt and the reasons we need to avoid consuming more salt is an eye-opener.

I am going to share this post with my wife and for sure she will get valuable information from your article.

    May I ask…

What is the frequency or how often we need to use the facial sleep mask?

Can men use LANEIGE – Water Sleeping Mask?

    1. Hi Paul! I can definitely relate when it comes to salt intake 🙂

The water sleep mask can definitely be used by both men and women! Two times to three times a week is a good amount :).

      1. Thanks a lot for the clarification and advice, really helpful.
