Caring for Your Skin On-The-Go

Yea, we could have a solid skincare routine that we learn to follow religiously but then vacation time rolls around and the packing part seems a little overwhelming. What are the necessities? Do I need all my quality products on board with me? And what can I fit in my purse without crossing any boundaries.

Another vacation invader? The travel itself. Whenever you commit to air travel, you’re immediately exposed to recirculated and dry air. So that means that even if you’re on a short flight, you can find yourself particularly lacking natural moistures. That’s when travel-sized moisturizers are a good idea,

Not having your regular products is blatantly one of our first-world-problems we seemingly add more and more of each day, but that doesn’t stop it from from effecting us, if only in this superficial way. It can’t hurt to look your best; especially when you do your homework choosing your products.

It’s important to remove your excess makeup and residue.
An excerpt from Allure: “[…] effectively removing makeup is the gateway to clearer, healthier skin. When makeup is removed, the skin becomes a clean canvas ready to absorb the product. An easy tip is to clean your face as soon as you get in the door instead of waiting right before you go to bed.

Just as you are dying to get out of your constricting work clothes, skin desperately wants to rid itself of pore-clogging debris and pollution! We like to use gentle cleansing oil as a first step.”— Sarah Lee and Christine Chang. Read more at Allure about maintaining a glowing complexion!

It’s necessary that you keep skin hydrated. Staying hydrated is something easily overlooked in every day life, but it is somehow just as neglected during vacation. Even though we are out and about, it just seems to be easily forgettable. Try and make the habit of constantly

Remember your sunscreen! This is the one that at least 50% of people forget when they are going on vacations. It is so important to protect your body from the sun, the most, because most sun damage can be attributed to facial and skin conditions.

We’re not re-inventing the wheel. Yes, this cliche is the one that has stuck with me the longest. You don’t need to make travel and packing a chore. Try travel-sized products, and for ones that don’t offer such, invest in reusable travel-size containers that you can pore your worthy products into.

Sleep Right! Another reiterated cause of wrinkles is sleeping and frankly, doing it wrong. Smushing your face into your pillow does begin to have its toll after some time.

Make an effort to strategically position your head so that you are facing up toward the ceiling if possible. For me, this was the most difficult thing to make a habit of, since I am someone who tosses and turns a lot at night.

What can eventually form from unease in sleeping, is deep creases like ‘parentheses’ or ‘marionette’ lines which can run from the nostril area to the corner of the mouth and become more prominent when a person is laughing. You may have also heard about the difference between silk pillows and cotton; silk is basically just better for you. Sleeping on silk actually helps retain moisture and because there is no cotton, you don’t wake up with those seemingly-unlasting creases.

Take some face-wipes! Makeup wipes are a life-saver when it comes to travel. You can keep up your skin-care routine with no hassle at all when you’ve got a compact way to handle it. The best thing is that you can keep it in your carry-on because it does not register as liquid!
