What Is Your Skincare Routine (5 Reasons Why it Matters)

Are you in the habit of falling asleep each night without washing up or cleansing? Sometimes after a busy day it is easy to forget that skincare is as important as brushing your teeth. The skin one of the largest organs in your body and taking care of your skin and developing a skin care routine is important, as it can help this organ take care of you in return. Here are just a few of the reasons why developing and maintaining a skincare routine is crucial.

1. Your Skin Sheds Every Day

This means two things; your skin could be healthy today, but neglecting it tomorrow will prove itself harmful on day 3. AND this means if you haven’t been taking care of your skin up until this moment, every day is literally a new day for your skin, and it’s not too late!

You can start tonight by cleansing your face before going to bed. Try a good cleansing balm for the best results. Our pick is the Clean It Zero Cleansing Balm from Banila Co. This hypoallergenic cleanser comes in a solid balm form that quickly transforms into silk once it touches the skin. It is made with a lightweight formula that is softs ane works with all skin types, without stripping skin of essential oils! It uses papaya and acerola extracts help to naturally exfoliate and brighten skin with Vitamin C.

2. All Skin Types Are Different

Some people can have great skin and seemingly don’t have to work too hard to get it. They may have little to no skincare routine! What is important to recognize is there is still a big difference between little and none, at least when it comes to skincare. Even just washing your face with a cleanser each night can make the difference. Another thing that really changes the look of skin is a person’s diet. A person is a lot less likely to have perfect skin without a skincare routine if they don’t practice a good diet as well. Some skin requires more care than others.

It’s so important to make sure you are at least cleansing the skin daily, and then you can start to build on that. An interesting yet simple way to cleanse and pamper the skin is by using an overnight spa mask! The Ultimate Nourishing Rice Overnight Spa Mask contains 65% rice extract and other natural ingredients to brighten, nourish and moisturize your skin while you sleep! Great for anyone with oily, dry, or combination skin; simply apply at the last step of skincare, and rinse off the next day!

3. Prevention is Better Than Repair

To prevent potential skin problems while you have clear and beautiful skin, is actually much easier than trying to fix skin issues in the future. It’s almost always possible to repair, but much easier not to have to!

Take the time now, to treat yourself to proper skincare each day. It takes much less time than having to see doctors and dermatologists, or to have to repair skin problems as a result of neglect down the line.

4. Good Skincare Routine Saves You Money

It’s true that sometimes you have to spend money to save money. When it comes to skincare, we have already mentioned prevention is far easier than fixing damages, but it is also cheaper! To have a good, proper skincare kit that you use ritually, is vital to healthy, young skin without flaws!

When you do take the time to care for your skin health, you avoid issues down the line that can end up costing much more than you are willing to pay. Acne scars, deep wrinkles, skin discoloration, and other similar skin problems can occur later in life when skin is neglected in the first place. Develop a skincare routine so that your future self will thank you.

5. When You Look Good You Feel Good

It’s a truth of life. Whenever I have glanced at myself in the mirror and felt that I looked my best I was automatically more confident. Understandably enough, confidence aids you in other aspects of life, such as productivity. When I am more confident, I am literally more productive, simply because I believe I can.

Having clean, healthy and clear skin can help boost your confidence and keep you looking your best! Your face is the first part of you others see when they meet you, and you know it. So the better you look on the surface, the better you can feel (barring other painful mental states…). A daily skin care routine can at least help you with the first part ;).

  1. Excellent advice, thank you!  It’s hard to believe what simply cleaning your face at night can do for most people, as you mentioned.  In fact, it is much more important to clean your face before bed then it is to wash your face when you wake up.  Since you know, your face collects dirt, grime, oil, and pollution all through the day and if you sleep on it, it is seriously gross!  But if you wash your face before bed, your face hasn’t been exposed to anything by the time you wake up, except your pillowcase!  (So wash the pillowcase, too!  ^_^).  It’s a trick I learned from the dermatologist.  Thanks again for your suggestions.

  2. This was a timely post for me.  As I age, I have concerned about the difference in my skin.  Not necessarily because I want to look better, but because I notice that my skin reacts differently to the elements that when it was younger.  As I read your article, I was wondering if any of the treatments you suggest would also be beneficial in terms of how my skin reacts to wind, and sun.  I look forward to reading other posts on your site.  Thanks for this informative article.

  3. I really appreciate your comment of “When you look good, you feel good”.  This is so very, very true.  You tend to hold yourself in a better posture, walk with more confidence and just over-all present yourself better.  I can totally believe that you would also be more productive.  I love the idea of the Overnight Spa Mask and will definitely be checking that out.  Thank you for all of your excellent pointers!

  4. Hello Sonia, it has been a very long time that you have given us some good information. I have been anticipating your posts. This is very nice and I am very happy with this good info here. It is true that we need to take care of our skins but many people do not know this. I do not take some things seriously and I have noticed them now. I will make sure to do things right.

    1. Hi Henderson!

I totally agree with you about not taking certain things seriously when it comes to skincare; I used to really neglect these things but only because they would slip my mind and I didn’t think much of it. Now, I have a daily routine, and I try to use a face mask at least twice a week. I’m wearing one as I type this!

  5. It is so true, we don’t realize the harm we do to our skin by not doing a good clean up routine, there are so many factors that affect us and we don’t take action about it, we may think our face is clean but within our pores there are many impurities of the ambient air, like smog and contaminants, oil and salt from our own sweet and bacteria that can affect the health of our skin. It’s about creating a habit of doing so and purchasing the right products for our type of skin.

  6. These are definitely some great reasons to keep your skin A1. I’m a man that starting to get older (almost 40!) and I see that my skin is less shinny and beautiful as before. I started using a cleaner with active coal but never user continuously like I should. You are right about paying more if your skin need more fix. I never thought about it that way but it is true! I think the Zero Cleansing Balm is worth trying. I think is the time for me to step my skin level up! Thank you for the post! Al

  7. Thanks for this enlightening post on the reasons why our skin care routine is important, I cherish my skin a lot I don’t want any rashes, or burns on it so that’s why I do have a skincare routine, my skin is a very different one so that’s why I do have skincare every week to prevent from anything on it, and ever since I have been on this routine I have not experienced any and skin experiences.thanks

  8. I definitely feel more confident and attractive whenever I follow a skin care routine. I regularly wash my face at night and apply skin cleansing creams to my face, neck, my hands, and my arms. I haven’t tried a face mask though but always wanted to, I think it would be a little embarrassing to be caught wearing those as a guy. Also I like to turn around in bed while I sleep and it would mess up my pillow, but it could work if I wore it during the day on a day off from work.

  9. Thanks for this post on the reasons why skincare routine is important like it’s been said in the post when you look good you feel good.

I prefer going for prevention better than cure, that’s why I have my special skin treatment every month-end and since I started this I have not experienced any difficulties with my skin! It’s been glowing 😉
